On one of my first days on the job, I decided to make myself some breakfast... So I decided to heat up a pop tart from the vending machine. I wrapped it in a paper towl and put it on for 30 seconds... well I guess I hit an extra 0. After a minute the room was engulfed with smoke, and everyone had to leave the building. I was so embarrassed The worst part... we have major clients coming in and the place smelled like shi* Two weeks later a gift came across my desk... a box of pop tarts with caution tape wrapped the box LOL Ouch :)

Me or Them

I am a specialist in organizational development. There were two women that got high acclaim for their teamwork in manufacturing. The publicity got to their heads. Little by little they became more controlling and micro managing. Resignations & complaints were through the roof. My boss placed me in the role to coach them & enhance the environment. They were dominant & I communicated with finesse a complete dichotomy. The last thing my director said to me was; “,It will be either you or them left standing.” I was patient; I made my decision to move them both out when one day I went to lunch and got a call fifteen minutes after I left. All I heard on my cell phone was; “Get you’re a.. back to the plant. You never leave this facility without getting permission from me!” I moved them out of their role the next day.

Caught in the Act

I worked in a manufacturing company with more than a thousand employees. I had a coworker who was popular for being flirt. She was linked with almost every good looking guy in the worksite. Then I learned one day that she was terminated from work. The rumor was: she and her boyfriend were caught making out through a newly-installed closed-circuit television. Enter your story here! Which is the Better Executive: Young or Old?

Some said that it is advantageous to have a young executive since they are more volatile in innovating jobs. But, my young branch manager is not like this. She does not innovate. She does not make an effort to improve our work or production. She only depends on the regulations imposed by the head office. It is annoying since the operations at the main branch are far too different from ours. She doesn’t even understand that. We are so disappointed that we don’t see her as our boss but just another immature woman who luckily attained her position. It is still better to have an older officer since they are capable of doing almost everything.

It may Cost You Your Job

I worked from 1973 to 1980 for “A” Oil Company. We were located in downtown area of a major city and sold the residual products from seven refineries and other outside sources. I handled btu adjustments for some contracts that were considered \"back to back\" or from another oil supplier to our customer. We were the middle man and I collected money from our customer if the fuel oil provided was of high btu content. The customers were mid to large size utilities and I collected over 1.5 million dollars over a period of time. The money was supposed to go back to the original oil supplier, “B” company, an oil company based in another state and headed by a gentlemen whose family was in politics. I was instructed not to pass that money to “B” company since they did not ask for it. In April of 1979 I became a \"born again\" Christian and my work ethic improved considerably. When I had summoned enough courage, I decided to give a good pitch to “A” company’s president of the benefits of giving the money back to “B” company . He told me to sit on this and not do anything. He was not real happy about it and a few weeks later I was offered a resignation package. I accepted as the alternatives did not look good. Later, I told the owner of “B” company about the money that was due his company. He flew a lawyer up to my house from Florida and the lawyer abstracted a written statement from me designed to get their money back. That was the last I heard from anyone about the btu adjustments even to this day. I was not given a good reference from “A” Oil company and after many months of job searching, I went back to school and obtained my teaching certificate. I have been teaching for the last 23 years. I like teaching much more than being a Market Research Analyst for an oil company. Dave Palmer Northfield, Ohio

The Witness

We have a locker room in my previous employment where I worked as an engineer in the clean room of a manufacturing company. There were rumors that a coworker had smelly feet. We made fun of it though we were not sure if it was true. Then, the day had arrived… I was late for work. I went directly to the locker room to change my clothes. Upon entering the room, I almost fainted with the stank of my coworker’s feet. I held my breath, changed my clothes the fastest way I could and hurriedly went outside. It was not just a rumor after all. I am a living witness to it.
